OAKTERRA / FOR ARCHITECTS

Your Design Intent. Carried Through Construction.

Oakterra partners with residential architects and landscape architects to coordinate exterior design and construction while respecting the vision established for each property.

Whether we’re working from your existing drawings or developing outdoor design concepts within your architectural direction, our approach centers on communication, planning, and thoughtful execution.

Design collaboration. Preconstruction coordination. Owner-led construction management.

Your Vision Remains the Foundation.

We understand that the exterior environment is an extension of the home’s architecture. Our responsibility is to understand the established design intent, work within the project’s approved requirements, and coordinate the outdoor construction scope accordingly.

When architects or landscape architects provide the design, Oakterra follows the approved documentation and routes proposed changes through the agreed review process rather than independently redesigning the work on site.

The architect establishes the design direction. Oakterra coordinates its assigned exterior construction responsibilities.

Two Approaches. One Coordinated Project.

Every architectural practice has its own preferred workflow. Oakterra can participate in two distinct ways depending on the project’s design and construction requirements.

MODEL 01

Build From Your Design

You lead the design. We coordinate construction.

The architect or landscape architect provides the approved exterior design direction and documentation.

Oakterra works from those requirements to coordinate the agreed construction scope, trade partners, site logistics, and relevant preconstruction activities. Design changes and questions requiring professional judgment are referred through the agreed approval process.

BEST SUITED FOR

Architect-led projects requiring an exterior construction partner to coordinate and execute an established design.

MODEL 02

Design Within Your Constraints

We develop the exterior within your architectural direction.

When requested, Oakterra can develop outdoor design concepts that complement the architecture and established site requirements.

Depending on the agreed project scope, our work may include 3D models, rendered views, and dimensioned site layouts. The architect maintains authority over the architectural design and approves relevant changes within their professional scope.

BEST SUITED FOR

Architects seeking a collaborative partner to develop and coordinate an outdoor construction scope while maintaining overall design consistency.

Collaboration approaches—not fixed contract terms. Responsibilities, professional approvals, and deliverables are established for each project. Regulated or stamped documentation is provided by appropriately licensed professionals where required.

Resolving the Details Before Construction.

Exterior construction often involves site conditions and coordination requirements that intersect with the home’s architectural design. Oakterra helps organize applicable preconstruction activities and coordinate the appropriate outside professionals.

Site Conditions

Existing site conditions, survey information, topography, access, and site preparation.

Grading & Drainage

Grading requirements, surface-water considerations, and coordination with civil or drainage professionals where needed.

Utilities & Existing Infrastructure

Relevant utility locations and coordination involving septic, well, sewer, or other site systems when applicable.

Municipal Requirements

Zoning, wetlands considerations, permits, and required approvals.

Professional Coordination

Communication with architects, engineers, surveyors, and other applicable professionals.

Licensed professionals provide regulated design, engineering, surveying, or stamped documentation where required. Permits, permit coordination, and third-party professional fees are charged separately according to the agreed project arrangement.

Clear Visuals. Better Project Coordination.

Design documentation helps establish a shared understanding of layout, materials, proportions, and intended construction details before work begins. Oakterra can prepare project-appropriate visual and planning materials within the agreed scope.

SAMPLE DESIGN DELIVERABLES

Site Plan

Spatial layout and proposed dimensions.

3D Model

Exterior layout, relationships, and design coordination.

Rendering

Visual interpretation of the proposed outdoor design.

These samples illustrate possible material types—not guaranteed deliverables for every project. Deliverables and exchange formats are confirmed within the agreed project scope.

Coordination That Respects Your Process.

Successful collaborations depend on clearly established responsibilities, communication channels, and approval procedures. Oakterra works with the architect and project stakeholders to define how information and decisions will move throughout the assigned exterior scope.

01 — Agreed Communication

Identify the appropriate contacts, project participants, and communication channels before work begins.

02 — Design Review & Revisions

Route relevant design questions, proposed field changes, and approvals through the agreed project process.

03 — Construction Coordination

Oakterra manages its assigned construction scope and coordinates qualified, insured trade partners while keeping the appropriate project stakeholders informed.

Cody or Dan remains accountable for Oakterra’s responsibilities throughout the project.
